There is nothing like ALDA Karaoke
Where else can you sing your heart out and not have to worry about what you sound like? ALDAcon’s famous Saturday night karaoke party is a one-of-a-kind event. An open stage lets you come up and join the revelers whenever you catch the spirit. Old-timers share the spotlight with newcomers, and a chorus line is not an unusual sight.
On the dance floor no one needs a partner; so twist and shout, do the hokey-pokey, the Macarena, or the Electric Slide—there’s dance you’re bound to know.
ALDA karaoke has a longstanding tradition of providing balloons to help us feel the beat when our ears might miss it. Enjoy the fun and laughter sitting at a table with a balloon between your legs while tapping your feet and you’re sure to have a smile on your face.
No matter how you choose to enjoy, it the ALDAcon karaoke party is an experience not to be missed! Come to ALDacon 2009 in Seattle (October 14-18) to enjoy this and many other activities designed for stress-free communication!
Sell Your Passion at ALDAcon’s Friday Night Live! Auction
Be a part of the fun and excitement while audience members vie for the highest bid on items that represent their passion for life, for fun, for ALDA! ALDAcon planners are aiming for full audience participation at this one-of-a kind event.
Here’s how it will work: wear or bring something that represents whatever you are passionate about, such as a favorite sports team (any sport, any league), a favorite food, or a hobby (art, photography, reading, scrapbooking, etc.) that you are willing to sell.
Participants will each have the opportunity to come to the stage and drum up passion for their passion as audience members vie to be the highest bidder in a show of enthusiasm for the item, fun of competition, and passion to help support ALDA. Those of you who would rather die than go on stage can turn your passion over to our mystery auctioneer and watch as your ALDA fans boost up the value of your passion.
ALDAcon’s Friday Night Live! Auction will take place immediately following the I. King Jordan Award Banquet with a short break for a quick change into your “passion fashion.”
All we ask is that everyone participate and have a great time, AND email Linda Drattell at lindra@comcast.net to let her know what you plan to offer so it can be listed in the program. (Anonymous donations are also welcome.) Please notify Linda before October 5, so we’ll have enough time to get everything included.
